Re: WBD Discussion
And even if it DOES make you wonder what the hell he's drinking (end of DDD comes to mind), it can work if it makes decent use of the pre-existing concepts. Personally, I'm ALWAYS wondering what he was drinking. And maybe where I can get some...

He doesn't drink. He sits on top of clock towers, has people redecorate places (did you guys even bother to check the ceilings?) and has Japanese only ice creams I've been trying to recreate.

Re: WBD Discussion
I seriously need ideas lol.
For Blake obtaining said body... Maybe Minato hits juuust a bit too hard with a high powered spell? Thus making it vital for him to live.

Re: WBD Discussion
Minato is a douchebag. Not a killer, he knows how to control his powers well enough to not kill/cripple anyone that badly. You'd have to hit his Berserk Button to cause him to do that. And it's VERY well hidden. XD
Re: WBD Discussion
1) What happened to being too 90s?
2) Even if you do plan on going through with this, I don't think that's the right way to go about it. Mainly because we have a good three healers. Or at least, people who can act as healers. That includes Yukari, Namine, and to a lesser extent, Sora. Him getting blasted is not a good method for implementing this. That said, they can't glue arms back on, so maybe something more akin to him losing little bits of himself at a time? Just a thought.

1a: But the 90s-- ah screw it.
2a: when I mean blasted... I mean like bone disintegrating and muscle being ripped from the bone. But I'll probably scrap the cyborg ninja idea.

Re: WBD Discussion
Um, at that point, you're probably dead from the pain. What I'm saying is, Curaga can do a lot of things. It can mend bones and holes in almost any area. It cannot reattach broken-off limbs, and it cannot grow new ones.
Don't take it the wrong way, but you seem to be forgetting that Blake lives in a world where there is magic, including what most people classify as "White Magic". It's much harder to make technological things necessary when we have magic, particularly when they involve robotics. I'm not saying "No robots in magic-land," I'm just saying that for most people, technology comes across as unnecessary when magic exists.

Re: WBD Discussion
That is why we need to do something so simple and stupid, that it's GENIUS. Get this. You listening? Are you?
We take the mechanical stuff...
...
...and replace it...
...
...WITH MAGIC!
Ehhhh? Whaddaya think?
But for the record, I actually put some thought into that, it's not just a random outburst of pathetic non-logic. Sure, the inspiration, in my head, was Riku's suit when he turns dark, but that's beside the point.
Yeah, the whole lost-most-of-his-body thing doesn't work, unless we figure out a REALLY contrived way of going about it. Remember, Gray Fox and Raiden weren't like that. Okay, maybe Gray Fox was, but that's Snake's fault. ...No, it was Gray Fox's fault for dropping him thirty feet on his head, setting his equipment on fire, and challenging him to a fistfight. Raiden forcibly had his head - sans lower jaw - transferred to a robotic body. It wasn't his choice, and he certainly could've lived just fine without that happening.
Let's change our perpective! Don't try too hard to hackneye in a way to disable him, forcingh im to undergo the operation, find another reason for it to happen! I could posit some ideas...
-Blake is utterly annihilated in battle, his body reduced to ash. However, a new body is fashioned for him made out of, say, darkness. That, or his heart got stuck in the Realm of Darkness somehow - perhaps that was where he got obliterated - and he became a Heartless, temorarily, until he becomes a normal Dark being.
...Meeeeeh, I'm out of energy. I had another couple of ideas, but I forgot 'em while I was writing up that one. Sorry 'bout that.

Re: WBD Discussion
...Nebula, you reminded me of a joke I randomly trolled a...sort-of-friend of mine with. I said that I am going to discover magic, then fuse it with science to create magic-science. Then somehow the word "dreaming" came up, and it became "Magic Dream-science". I then continued my trolling by relating everything that was happening to science in the most utterly unnecessary way possible. One such example.
"I'm confused...confusion is felt by the brain, the brain is a part of the human body, which means it is Biology and Biology is SCIENCE!"

Re: WBD Discussion
Careful with the whole l'Cie thing, you know? A girl tried the same thing on Org.XIV, but she kind of deviated into typical high school drama and dropped off the radar. See, it would've been fine if this were about high school drama, but the only high school on the board is Heart High, and that's a comedy/insanity topic. High school drama elements are awkward when they try to mesh with Kingdom Hearts...
Plus, her character was supposed to be a Keyblade Master, and had a tragic past involving the loss of her world. And yet, she managed to be googly-eyed over some guy she meets at a school. It'd have been fine, perhaps, if it had been less like a high school romance, but it was blatantly like that. Whatever, I guess.
Anyway, just be careful about how you combine such elements into the existing world. Some just don't work together right. It could seem like a good idea at first, but you should let the ideas stew in your head a bit before implementing them.

Re: WBD Discussion
So would this make sense?
Skylar had completed her Focus RIGHT when she became a Cei'th. Instead of turning into crystal, she gained the ability to become a Cei'th at will.
However, when she transforms, the white l'Cie mark turns to a final stage mark, causing people who would usually be friendly to attack.

Re: WBD Discussion
No, not really. Following the established rules is the best plan, unless you do something that has such a serious impact on reality that it breaks the laws. (Dark) Rexial's existance fits the bill, usually. In Skylar's case, just SPACE IT OUT to give people time to develop a bond with her, and try not to let High School Drama elements seep in. Keep the tone in line with Kingdom Hearts and TITAL.
Plus, the whole faking-her-death thing seems a bit contrived. So, she fake-died, then she turned into crystal...? I dunno. Why not have her turn into crystal, setting things in motion, without telling Blake that she'll be fine? Of course, that's not to say that you're doing things wrong. I was just wondering if my idea made mores sense... but, no it doesn't. I can't think of a good alternative to your idea at the moment.
And one last thing; don't assume that people will read character bios. Write as if they didn't. In a story, nobody reads a Character Bios section before reading the first chapter. This is another example of other peoples' perception of your characters being different from your own, as you know them, and they don't. If you don't manage to convey enough about your character, Skylar, then nobody will recognize her. It'll be all of Sammy's girlfriends, all over again.

Re: WBD Discussion
I don't know too too much about FFXIII, but I know enough to say that unless the timing was absolutely on-the-dot perfect, which just seems like plot-convenience, that doesn't make a whole ton of sense to me. Plus...as far as I know, the Cei'th are mindless, so that wouldn't be super-helpful.
Nebula, the reason for that is in FFXIII itself. She wouldn't turn to crystal until meeting her objective. So...that much does make sense in the realm of that reality.
Also, I REALLY hate it when people put apostrophes in the middle of words for no good reason.

It denotes a missing sound in the word. Most Pacific Island languages use it.

Re: WBD Discussion
I know what an apostrophe is used for. What use does it have in "Cei'th" though? You could spell it "Ceith" and it would still be pronounced the same. I could understand "l'Cie," although that still sounds stupid.

Re: WBD Discussion
Actually, it's "Ci'eth". The apostraphe is there to confuse people by making them think it's pronounced "see-ETH" instead of "SEETH". So, not only is it useless, it's coutnerproductive! Lovely. Haar's right, it's just there for the sake of sounding cooler or more alien or something. XIII was not the pinnacle of writing in the series, though it did have its moments.

I'm not gonna say it's my least favorite, though it's not exactly top-notch. Still miss the ability to explore rather than follow quite literally a linear path. Still enjoyable, but not my favorite.
