The TITAL Title

So yeah, I'm on summer break and decided that I needed to do something with my life. I thought maybe I would go to Africa to help feed the starving children, or work to find a cure for cancer, maybe even go on a spirit journey, looking to find myself. Instead, I took the path of something more meaningful and set up a bracket of 16 anime.

Rules:
-I'll post the match ups as they come.
-I'll let you guys vote on them, first three votes decide the match.
-Not a group of what I think are the 16 best, just 16 random anime I put into a bracket
-I may do a consolation bracket as well
-I'll try to post the bracket
-I gave "team names" based on the top 8 posters on the forum
-I need at least three people interested to run this, so I need check in posts
-You don't have to be one of the original 3 to vote

Alright, awesome! I'm not home so I can't post bracket, but I'll start up the tournament.

First Match Up: Neon Genesis Evangelion (Admin) v. Samurai 7 (Haar)

Samurai 7

Hmmm... Evangelion would get my vote.

This is a tough one for me. I've seen most of Samurai 7, but my knowledge of Evangelion comes from a movie that felt like what I assumed to be an abridging of the show. But, on the other hand, Samurai 7 just came off as really boring to me, but if I had to choose between rewatching Samurai 7 or watching Evangelion, I'd pick Samurai 7, mainly due to my friends telling me how emotionally manipulative Eva can be. So, I vote Samurai 7.

Next Match up: One Piece (Nebula) v Inu-Yasha (twisted)

Now this is a hard one... Ummm.... Inu-Yasha, because One Piece gets really hard to follow later on (Skypeia arc onwards)

Okay...first things first.... *sneaks up on Yusei with a baseball bat then proceeds to beat him mercilessly while sobbing "Sorry Yusei" * *steals his Eureka Seven and swaps it with Hunter X Hunter * *looks down at the beaten yusei* Sorry Yusei...but I LOVE Eureka Seven to death

Now back to business...

As odd as it may seem...it was the other way around for me twisted...so I'm going with One Piece

(W-when did I get elected to represent One-Piece!? ...Bah, I can handle this.)

One Piece has a more expansive cast, with numerous, more interesting characters who actually STICK AROUND the whole time. Inu-Yasha has a guy with a magical sword that only happens to be useful when he's using it to be a good guy? One-Piece has a guy who wields THREE SWORDS AT ONCE. And he's named Roronoa Zoro. And he's the SECOND PARTY MEMBER.

Also, Inu-Yasha is a dog-demon. I'm fairly certain his name translates roughly to that. Plus, one asshole said Ragna the Bloodedge was based on Inu-Yasha. That guy was stupid and wrong, Ragna is based on Vash the Stampede from Tri-Gun. Inu-Yasha doesn't deserve to have such a badass based on him!

I'd say the difficulty in following the plot is WORTH it, if it's deeper! Remember Persona 4? How you would only even realize that the True Ending EXISTS if you recall that this is a game where you seek out every truth, and there are still unanswered questions up until the True End? That's something that made it even awesomer! It's WORTH the difficulty in understanding it if it's a deep, complex story.

(This is only based on cursory knowledge of both, and some self-spoiling on both, but I have a knack for piecing this stuff together. If only I could judge Evangeleon that easily... And hell if I know anything beyond Volume 21 of the Manga for One-Piece. I doubt my argument holds quite as much water. I feel like I'm Phoenix Wright, BSing my way through the argument with hypotheticals and stuff I don't know, guessing and hoping to get it right... Hellz yeah, I'm glad I got roped into this!)

You think you have it tough Nebula? in both my "match ups" with Yusei I would most likely vote for his teams over my own

Hey! I may know little about One Piece, but I know jack-sh*t about Prince of Tennis! I can't make an argument out of NOTHING. Mind switching me and KH so I can side with Rurouni Kenshin, an anime I have seen a fair amount of and would probably give my vote above all the others here?

See that's why I had to sadly beat Yusei mercilessly for Eureka....I know Jack-Sh*t about Hunter X Hunter (other than my best friend LOVES it), while I have an entire collection for Eureka

As I said Neb, during the Skypeia (Enel) arc and onward, I just can't get my head around everything that goes on. That's the only reason I went Inu-Yasha over One Piece, if not for that, I would have gone One Piece.

As for team-assignments, I have ABSOLUTELY (for emphasis) no idea about Cowboy Bebop. I've never read the manga, nor watched the anime at all. All of my knowledge will come from the Web, most likely.

Now see, it's reasons like these (No offense to Atlantis whatsoever) that I feel like the top 8 posters should have at least had the CHANCE to pick the anime to represent their teams

in which one of my choices would obviously be Eureka 7 and while i'm fine with Naruto or One Piece even because I keep up with the manga's I might have been able to properly defend Cowboy Bebop unlike Twisted because I have seen it through it's entirety

That helps me, cause you have Naruto, something that I have seen a lot of...

Twisted, if you take Overman, I will gladly take Bebop off your hands. Seriously, it's one of the four anime on this list I've actually seen. Why did I agree to this?!

That aside, I know nothing current competitors, so... non-existent coin-toss says One Piece.

And see it would help me out too because while I've seen/read a lot of Naruto, but not a lot of let's say Detective Conan for purposes I would still vote Conan over Naruto personally

And as I said/implied I'm not trying to bash Atlantis in anyway for the "Team Assignments", because there is NO WAY he would have known which anime's the top 8 would choose to represent themselves (which by the way I don't feel it would be too late to change as it wouldn't effect the match ups themselves but only the teams the animes represent)

@KH I would, but I haven't seen anything of Overman either...

Wow...what have I created? lol Sorry about the whole team thing...the bracket generator program that I have on my computer won't allow a bracket without teams, because I used it to run wrestling tournaments and such. But yeah, if you guys want to just set a list of the swaps that just occured, I'll gladly make them

Well I don't think any ACTUAL swaps occurred so much as a discussion to theoretical swaps

I still say it's not entirely too late too allow those of us who wish to choose do so as if you HAD thought it out just a little bit MORE you could have easily looked at ANA and seen that all 8 top posters have contributed and would have their lets say "passions" on anime but I digress

My initial swap if thats how we will do this is still Hunter X Hunter for Eureka Seven

Now if someone wanted to swap for Naruto I'd be more than willing for something I know just as much or in case of necessity for others I'm willing to take one I don't know (for example swapping kh for Overman  so that he could then swap Naruto to twisted for Cowboy Bebop) but I will hold Naruto for other potential swaps for the time being

(And yes Atlantis Im having a hard time too, which is weird because it was perfectly fine black text on white last night but now it's this annoying light blue that I can barely see, and no I don't have it highlighted or anything in fact that makes it EASIER to see)
