Hm. Well, I've never even looked at Homestuck seriously, so I don't know anything about breaking an addiction to it... Sorry, man. Try... forcing yourself to read it a LOT. Until you get sick of it. That's my perscription. Or, you could do it the smarter, less pontentially-worsening way by reading something else that's less addictive, but captivating enough that you stop thinking about Homestuck.

Hopefully, you won't get addicted to THAT while you try and distance yourself from Homestuck. I suggest it because not only do I like it an awful lot, I figure it's got the captivating effect necessary to pull you in, but it's not so addicting that you'll spend all your time on it, and it's not so insanely long that it'll take years to catch up. A week, if you really read it fast.

You can still put it in the Sylladex, you just can't use it immediately for fights, dang it. Just make sure you don't bean yourself in the face with it getting it out.

Nebula, if you put in the time you'd join the crew in raving fan addict mode. It's really good, and really well written.

No. Let's be honest here; I don't want to become addicted to Homestuck. I don't have that kind of free time, ESPECIALLY right now. I've got all this week's afternoons booked, and a ton of other things to take care of... Plus, I have a brain that is easily addicted to things. It's not a question of whether I get addicted, it's whether I even try to start reading that determines it.

And I personally think, from the little bits I've seen, that it messes up what made Earthbound so amazing: the dark setting, full of both realism AND insanity, hidden behind bright and childish graphics. ...What? Yout don't know what I'm talking about? Well, from what I hear, Homestuck is somehow based on Earthbound.

Let's assume I know what you're talking about in regards to Earthbound. Yeah, you're right, it does seem to be that way: it's pretty dark, it takes reality and twists it, and the art is kinda silly, I guess...? But even if some elements are the same, why on Earth is that stopping you from enjoying a series as what it is on it's own? It's its own story, let it be that. So what if it's got the whole Party of Four in an RPG element? If I didn't like games that "imitated" this, I wouldn't play any RPG past Final Fantasy I, not just for the fact that it's the earliest, but it's the first one I was exposed to. I loved watching things like Samurai Jack and DBZ as a kid: so what if Bleach and Naruto come along? I can still enjoy the latter and the former still exists. This is why remixes are so awesome to me: the original exists still, but look: what if you used a bass guitar and drums instead of chip tunes? These are just a few examples. And without MASSIVE plot spoilers, this is a story that I think goes WELL beyond what Earthbound is/was capable of. Granted, I know fuckall about the games or the series, except that Ness is the protag and there's a kung-fu guy named Poo. Literally all I know. And might I restate this: let's assume that for what ever reason, the four kids on Earth that go into the game are carbon emulated copies of EB characters. So what? Why is it so hard to assume that maybe this might be just as, or God Forbid, BETTER?

TL;DR didn't mean to rant but you should at least TRY it over the summer. If nothing else play the game when it comes out.

1: I'm using it as a weak excuse not to get into it, as I REALLY can't afford so much time. I've got my hands full already, because I'm an overzealous moron who insists on running headlong into projects that might take years to finish if I don't spend months on end working on them tirelessly. I have GOT to stop doing that.

2: Actually, Earthbound isn't something to be underestimated. I'm only going with my temporary judgement for now, as I really DON'T know much of anything about Homestuck. Further research would cause me to run the risk of becoming curious enough to start reading, and then it's game over. I reserve my final judgement for when I know everything about Earthbound AND Homestuck, which will never happen, or at least not for a long, long time.

3: Wall of text. I'm kinda tired, so reading that wasn't such a good idea for me. Tired enough to keep losing my position. Bah. And I'd only try to use and excuse like this when I'm too tired to put up a fight anyway.

4: Something about the association... irritates me. Conceptually. I'm sure that it's not really so bad, if it's a problem at all, but again, I can't know until I try, which I don't plan to do. But you, Edgar, can't very well fight my argument without knowing Earthbound yourself.

5: We should probably cut this conversation short, before the Admin tells us to get back on topi... hang on, he's the one who made us digress like this!

Eh, maybe I'll give it a try sometime, since you feel so strongly about it. Screw it. By the time I get around to doing it, Halcyon will have gotten over his addiction, I'm sure, and he'll be able to tell ME how to get over it when it happens to me.

Here's my opinion, as someone who knows something, but very little, about both:

Earthbound is not something you can really compare ANYTHING to. It's just incredibly random, and even though I haven't played past the first town, I know some later details. There's a boss who is literally a pile of vomit. Unless you, Zelda, have something equally as random, or have a world sucked into a void, there is no comparison.

That said, the reason people don't tend to enjoy things for what they are is because when you see a large number of elements from a particular series, and the thing starts seeming like it's trying to leech off of that other series. It loses its originality, which takes away from the quality.

Ultimately, if the quality is better, people will acknowledge that, but the original idea is always the more creative one, because it was its own idea.

Now, back on topic.

And on the note of Robo, have you considered maybe he/she does not want us to know his/her birthday? That's kinda the reason mine isn't registered. Hell, whenever someone asks, I say it's September 31st.

Wait, it only NOW hit stores?! What the hell, man, I've had it for like two months now...Although I've only picked it up to play recently on account of not having finished P4. Since then, it was a couple weeks, then I started clearing 1 story per weekend, and have currently done four of them.

Over here it just has, i.e 9th of May.
