Monkey D. Luffy (One Piece) v Light Yagami (Death Note)

Okay, past this point, in an actual fair matchup...I'll admit, I don't really like Light that much. Like, in an actual fight, Luffy has a history of shouting his name, meaning Light would get an instant victory. But as a character...Death Note is extremely dark, while One Piece is more fun and upbeat, and it's pretty much all because of their main characters: Luffy is hyper and energetic, while Light is a creepy sociopath. While I like both, I'm always going to lean toward the lighthearted, because it's more fun than watching a downward spiral of misery.

Goku (Dragon Ball) v Edward Elric (Full Metal Alchemist)

...I abstain from this also. I don't feel like I can cast a fair vote, given that I know Goku extremely well, and only kind of know Edward. The reason I'm keeping out of this is because I've seen Edward and like him (as compared to those other guys who I had never heard of), but I've grown up with Goku. Plus, while I've been reading FMA, I've also been playing Dragonball Xenoverse, meaning my knowledge of the Dragonball universe is infinitely greater than that of FMA, which is limited. Basically, I'd feel bad voting for either of these characters, since I like them both, but know one so much better. Particularly given that I've been reading FMA, and every issue is another $10-15, so there's that too.

Sooooooooooooooo then I suppose I'm forcing admin and/or Aesoth to decide that vote just because I have both their numbers.

Hm. This one's really tough. Again, I've seen more of Luffy than Edward, but I feel okay voting here, since I don't feel like the extra experience really gives me any bias. Also, I now really want to see these two fight. This is a bit more of what I was saying where Edward is a little more serious than Luffy (though Ed does know how to have fun). When it comes down to it, it's a matchup of whether I prefer mostly silly but sometimes serious, or mostly serious but sometimes silly. I'm going with Luffy, just because I think I prefer One Piece as a show.

Would rather not end this in a 1-0 decision. Going to wait for Neb and Zelda

Edward. Sorry, Luffy, you're a cool protagonist from what I've read (vol.1-14), but I prefer Edward Elric.

I mean, it's a lot of Studio Ghibli stuff, like my sister said, but these are some of the best things I've ever watched in anime. I should note that these are NOT all titles that I have seen. My Neighbor Totoro, regrettably, is still on my waiting list, for example. These are just some of the ones that I've watched or heard a lot about, minus a couple. The bracket is already set (thanks to a bracket system I have on my computer). First round already has a doozy of a match up. I think these would be a well rounded, well contested bracket.

And ZM, I'd take suggestions, but with a 16 man bracket, it's going to be the easiest. The next full bracket is 32. That's a bit much for my system as of right now XD

I have only seen three of these movies. I don't think I can properly participate this time. Before, I at least had passing knowledge of most contestants, but here... no.

Yeah, I don't have much of a say, either. I've seen a review of Ponyo and watched Princess Mononoke for my English final one year, and that's about it. I recognize a few more names than that, but those are the only ones I've actually seen anything of. Sorry, I can't properly vote on this one.

Well if we don't get people to say they're interested, send me some suggestions for a female protagonist.

Didn't know you were in the know on JoJo, that's awesome. And Ryuko's from Kill la Kill, and Aya is from Parasite Eve. The Two Best Friends recently completed a thing on the first game, you should check it out, it's by Square.

Madoka... I have mixed feelings on.

Ryuko Matoi is the protagonist of Kill La Kill. Aya Brea is the protagonist of Parasite Eve, a Squaresoft game that partially served as a test for the engine they would use to make FFVIII.

I know all the names on the list with varying degrees of familiarity.
