"Yup, it's right over here. Be careful. Wanna introduce me to your friend?"

"This is Seth." He gestured to his comrade. He then walked over and took a look at the void portal. "Wow. I'd thought it'd be a little bigger."

Seth looked at the void portal, narrowing his eyes at it. "What the hell is that?" He asked, hands drifting to his revolvers.

"Nice to meet you, but don't worry, a portal that small wont hurt anyone. It's basically a portal to another dimension, no big deal. Honestly, I don't know how they work. They started appearing after the great war in your world. I live on the other side. I was chosen by my people to come here and close all of them, using my gift."

Naxius sighed. "Right~," he said sarcastically.

"Well umm let's see here..."
The man began to shuffle around the portal, pulling out strange devices from his many pockets. Finally he found something.
"Okay guys, sorry about this but GET DOWN!"
The portal suddenly pulsed deep purple, and made a very loud sound.

Naxius, being right next to the portal, gripped his ears. "Oww, maybe you could've warned me you were going to make it go off like a hand grenade."

Tim dropped a fist on the ghoul's head again and again. He didn't know what else he could do. He just kept hoping that this shuffler didn't have a weapon on it.

The ghoul started laughing, "Oh, come on, smoothskin. You need to stop that. You already have a broken arm, and I've got two hunting knives on me." He rolled Tim off of himself and stood up, dusting himself off.

Tim, caught off guard by the comment, had stopped. He winced as he was rolled onto the floor, and helped to his feet by the ghoul who had seemed to have been trying to kill him, no more than 10 seconds ago. The ghoul carefully lifted the broken arm, the obvious signs of a break were there. There was an indentation, and the entire forearm had turned black and blue. "Come on, I'll get you back to your companions."

Naxius sighed. "So, why don't we close this portal, and go meet up with our friends? From what we've encountered, there're probably more ghouls, radroaches, spiders, or-" he shuddered at the next comment, "-protectrons."

Seth nodded. "Yeah...but if we shot out its sensors I'm pretty sure we can take them out"

Naxius said, "Maybe so, but still, I'd rather avoid conflicts when I can."

Disconnecting a few last wires, Max forces the robot into shutdown mode and pulls the fission battery out of the robot's casing.

Tim turned to the ghoul, "So, you went from trying to kill me to helping me?"

"Look, I hate when people come in here and scavange, but I know you're trying to get put of here, and I'm tired of this place too. I might see if I can come with you guys."

Naxius turned to Seth, "We should meet up with the others."

A loud metallic pop rings through the hall followed by a static buzz “Hello? Is this thing on? Oh I can hear my voice.” There is a slight laugh “Alright so if you guys can hear me its Roach, I found some sort of office here and there this microphone and well you get the picture. Anyway it appears the a couple Chinese soldiers were held up here there are some MRE’s, and other junk here that could be useful. So I’m gonna kick back, relax and listen to old record with my dead friend Lt. Shu and my pointy new sword while I wait for you guy to get here, Roach out.” There is another pop followed by static then music

The ghoul looked over at Tim, "So kid, what's your name?"

Tim was still holding his forearm, where there was obvious signs of a broken bone. He was still unsure if he could trust the shuffler, but he decided he really had no choice at this point, "Tim, Tim Walsh."

"Well Tim-Tim, nice to meet ya. Name's Jarrod."

"No, not Tim-Tim.."

"Too late, you have forever been labelled to me."

-The announcement comes over the PA system, followed by music-

Jarrod was the first to answer, "Who the hell is that?"

"Some scavenger we met before we got here. He's," Tim paused looking for the right word, "odd."

"I see. Well, might as well head there instead of looking around the rest of the building and risking finding trouble."

Tim nodded in agreement and the pair headed towards the office.
