Pokemon: Team Obsidian

Backstory: 50 years after the events of Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald, Team Aqua and Team Magma are no longer. A new criminal organiztion only known as Team Obsidian has risen from where the teams fell and now holds an iron grip on the civilization throughout the continent of Hoenn. This tyranny has been in place for 10 years, squashing the Gyms and Elite Four reinstating headquarters in thier place.

However, with the new generation of trainers, there is hope. The professor launches a last ditch effort entrusting several young pokemon to the trainers who have been trained to fight alongside thier allies. Will they be able to stop Team Obsidian?

Motive: To make a more violent, realistic version of pokemon where the trainers lend a hand in the battles. A real, more mature(?) story is what I'm hoping for.

To keep it all fair, no one gets to pick thier weapon or starter. Only what thier character and specialized type will be. No on can have the same specialty and I'll choose last to keep it fair.

I'll put up the bios page in a moment so you guys can sign up there before posting starts.

Machinery whirred and hummed in the clean, white laboratory.

A young woman was perched over a microscope, her small Pokemon, a young Ralts, sat on the counter next to her, "Ralts! Fetch me the specimen dish."

The small Pokemon nodded hopping from the counter and rummaging through the bins at the bottom obviously arranged so the waif-like creature could reach.

A middle-aged man walked out of a side door, a bundle of poke balls in his arms, "Good afternoon! What time is it?"

The young girl rolled her eyes as her Ralts covered its "ears" from the boisterous noise, "Professor Aspen... I almost found the source of Pokerus... Now, the sample has disappeared and Ralts has healed. There's no way for me to find it again."

"Ah! But, that's where you're wrong miss cynic! Today I'm inviting a group of trainers to the lab! They'll be our answer! All trained, all skilled. You'll have an opportunity to go on an adventure just like I did when i was your age!"

The young girl just shrugged, "No thanks."

"Did I mention that stopping Team Obsidian is part of that adventure?" The professor asked.

Her gaze hardened with a swell of hatred, "I'll go. I assume that means you're giving me Ralts?"

The young Pokemon seemed overjoyed by that statement.

The professor nodded, tossing the young woman a pokeball, "That's hers. Now, get out of that lab coat. Your allies will be arriving shortly."

Not long after the professor tossed the pokeball to the girl there was a loud knocking on the front door. "Hello, is anybody in there?"

The professor walked to the door opening a small slit, "Ah, you're the first to arrive. Come in, come in!"

<BTW, everyone already has their weapons just not their starter mon.>

The boy practically skipped in with a smile on his face and what looked like a staff strapped in his back. "HELLLLOOO!" The boy yells out in joy. " So you are the professor guy right? I am Adam Cross nice to meet you." Adam said extending his hand to great the professor.

The young woman re-entered the laboratory, she had a medium sized pack on her back and a sleek carrying case at her side, "So, my 'ally' is a hyper active brat? I mean I can understand excitement but god... I heard that in my room. And it's supposed to be soundproof."

The professor nodded, "Yes, I am Professor Aspen. So, Mister Cross, you asked for a Bug-type, no?"

Brat? She is one to talk she looks no older than me. Adam thought to himself. He then looks back to Professor Aspen. "Yes that is right! I cant wait to find out who is going to be my first pokemon! I Hope its something cool like a Scyther!"

Professor Aspen frowned, "I wish I had the ability to give you something so powerful. Alas, the only Bug type I have is Wurmple. He's not very impressive but full of potential." He handed the young man a poke ball.

The young woman nodded approvativaly, "Now, I understand. He's got a Bug type. I've got a Psychic type." She said releasing Ralts, "We can cover each other once they grow stronger." She walked forward and struck a hand out to the young man, "Maya Murikubo, I'd say nice to meet you but I can't tell heads or tails of you yet." She said waiting for a return in the handshake.

As they were speaking, a young boy walked through the door and asked, "Is this Professor Aspen's office?

Maya's eyes snapped to the door, a metal fan spiraling out of its holster and into her hand, "Professor Aspen! You forgot to lock the door!"

The professor face palmed, "Yes, indeed how stupid of me. With the threat of Team Obsidian... We can't afford such mistakes." He walked behind the man and locked the door, "You're either the fire type or grass type applicant... It's slipped my mind."

<I didn't realize the door was supposed to be locked.>

"Grass," he said simply.

Maya put away her fan as the threat was revealed to be a false alarm, "You've got to remember Professor. I won't be here forever and Luxray won't be able to stop every threat."

The professor nodded, "I know... I won't forget." He handed the newcomer a poke ball, "Here's your starter, a Chikorita. Take care of her."

A voice came from the corner, "Wait, we were supposed to introduce ourselves after coming inside?"

He nodded and took the pokéball, not paying the newcomer any mind.

Maya twirled on the new voice, the fan drawn again, "It'd be wise to do so now." She said with a glare. Ralts was tensed at her side ready to attack if ordered.

Walking up to the front door of the lab, a girl of 16 slowly walks up to the front door and knocks with the back of her scythe, waiting patiently with her unarmed hand holding herself. (Is this really the place?)

Smiling as he steps out of the shadows, he says, "Name's Dwayne, Dwayne Etoile."

Maya's eyes narrowed, "The dark user... Why am I not surprised?"

The professor answered the door, "Ah, another new trainer! Step inside please." He said letting the girl in and locking it behind her. He then handed out Pokemon to those he hadn't already given.

Maya smiled at the girl's entrance, "Thank god. I was beginning to worry I was the only girl."

"How many others are we waiting on?" the sleeveless boy asked.

Walking inside slowly, Kayla looks around at the others. Feeling slightly apprehensive and getting butterflies in her stomach she does take immediate notice of the man in the shadows and the other girl, likewise glad for same-sex company. (I'm going to be around these people a lot... I just hope I don't screw up.) "Uh-uhm... Thank you," she says, taking her Poke ball.

Taking the pokeball from the professor, Dwayne steps back into the shaded corner and leans against the wall, waiting.

The professor set out the remaining poke balls on the table.

"We're waiting for three others. A fire user, a dragon user, and a fighting user."

He nodded and waited patiently.

Moving awkwardly to the back of the room and, she hoped, out of the others' interest, Kayla leans up against the wall and sighs, holding her Pokeball and her scythe.

Maya leaned against the wall next to the new girl, "Y'know, I'm happy I'm fighting with you guys... A Bug user, a Ghost user, and a Dark user. My little Ralts would be in trouble." She smiled as Ralts on her shoulder nodded placidly.
